Growing up in Seattle gave me ample opportunity to develop a taste for coffee and sample a wide range of different coffee types and roasts. After years of drinking coffee and trying to find the perfect blend of flavor, body, and acidity I believe that I have found the perfect coffee for me. Stumptown Coffee started in Portland, Oregon, with a mission to find the best beans from around the world and pay a fair trade price to the farmers. It just so happens that the coffee is great.
If you are lucky enough to be near a Stumptown Roastery they have weekly coffee tasting with their new offerings from around the world. I can't pick just one coffee to choose from, but if I had to pick one region it would be their Columbian beans. Stumptown considers coffee to have as complex and rich flavors as wine and tells you what flavors and notes to look for in the coffee as you are drinking it. Being a company based in the Pacific Northwest, they take coffee seriously.
But even if you are not in the Pacific Northwest, if you appreciate coffee and want something more than you can find at the grocery store or your local Starbucks, then you can buy the beans from their website and have them shipped to you directly. I highly recommend that you try their coffee at least once. Their beans are roasted very well and never taste burnt or overly acidic. The only knock on them that I have is that they are considerably more expensive than the coffee you can find in the grocery store.
