Mr. Coffee Model # APTX83

5 years ago, my husband and I requested and received a Mr. Coffee Coffee Pot, Model # APTX83 for our wedding. We made this request after conducting tons of research of the best reasonably priced "simple" coffee makers on the market at that time. I loved that this one has a carafe. This is a feature that I was looking for.

After reading reviews of this particular pot we saw that many people had problems with the carafe leaking when the coffee was poured. Others had the problem but overcame it with this trick or another. We decided to give it a try since it had all of the features that we both wanted with the clock and timer and the carafe, for it to be "simple" and to match our other appliances with the black and chrome look.

The leaking issue turned out to be more of a problem than we anticipated but we dealt with that by always placing a towel under our cups as we were pouring and then wipe down the carafe before sitting it back down, but now it has stopped sucking up all of the water for brewing thinking that it is finished half-way through the brewing cycle. I have to let the coffee maker sit and cool for a couple minutes and then turn it back on so that it can finish the brewing process.

This coffee maker has turned out to be far more trouble than it was worth. We are now in the market for a new coffee maker and won't be looking at the same model for a replacement. Next time we'll pay more attention to the reviews of other customers and steer clear of products with a lower than excellent rating.
