Morphy Richards 47507 Espresso Maker

The Morphy Richards 47507 espresso machine is a stylish machine that will compliment any modern kitchen, whether at home or at the office. It is a fairly compact machine that offers the ability to make espressos as well as cappuccinos as it has a milk frothing attachment on the side. One can use ground coffee beans or coffee pods with this machine and it has three filter attachments.

One for a single espresso, one for a double espresso and one for the pods. Operating the machine is very simple and one need not even read the manual to figure out how it works (although one should always do this!). There is an on/off button, a mode selector button and a single lever for starting and stopping the operation.

The selected mode is indicated in the central circular display which is lit up with a funky blue light. There is also a large water reservoir fitted at the back so there is no need to add water every time the machine is used. Cleaning is fairly simple: remove the filter holder handle and the drip tray as well as the rubber nozzle that fits over the milk frothing pipe and wash in warm soapy water, then rinse and voila! It reassembles quickly and easily.

Overall, it is a very simple machine to use and produces fantastic coffee. I would recommend it to anyone.

- The machine is ready to make coffee within a few seconds of turning it on
- It is multifunctional – not just and espresso machine but cappuccinos too.

- The gap between the filter holder and drip tray is quite small and so difficult to get even a medium sized cup underneath to catch the coffee.
- Not all types of coffee can be used, if the powder is too finely ground it becomes compacted with the pressure and the water cannot filter through.
