I needed a coffee maker because my Mother was coming to visit and she is a really big coffee drinker. Instant coffee was fine with me, but she wouldn't have it. So, I decided to find a coffee maker at a thrift shop because I knew once she left that I would just go back to my instant coffee and never use the coffee maker again. My husband actually found this coffee maker at a thrift shop for $13.

He brought it home and I had never seen a coffee maker like this before. It took a weird cone shaped filter. I never thought we would find filters to fit it. But we did find them and realized that cone shaped coffee makers are pretty popular.

After the first cup of coffee from this coffee maker I was hooked. It was so delicious and we definitely got our money's worth. I don't know how old this coffee maker is, but it is still working excellent. It heats the water to the perfect temperature so the coffee comes out great each time. Melitta has a whole line of coffees that you can purchase to use in their coffee pots, but I just use regular coffee from Wal-Mart and it works perfect. It makes 10 cups. It can be programmed so your coffee is ready when you wake up in the morning. It has a neat safety feature. If you don't put the pot on the hot plate correctly, the coffee will stop brewing. This way the coffee doesn't continue to brew and spill all over the place. I have had coffee pots that have done that and it is a big mess.

Another great thing is that it doesn't leak at all on the counter top. It is really easy to clean. It has a little cone shaped basket with a handle on it that you put the filter in. So when you want to empty the filter, you just pick up the handle and pull it out and dump it in the trash can. Then you can wash the basket and replace it. You don't have to fuss with trying to clean coffee grounds out of the filter basket while it is still attached to the coffee pot.

I have not had any instant coffee after my first cup of coffee from this Melitta coffee pot. I would highly recommend this coffee pot to anyone who loves to drink coffee. If this one ever wears out, I would definitely purchase a brand new one.
