Kitchen Aid Ultra KCM055
I bought this KitchenAid Ultra KCM055 coffee marker because it was cute and blue. I am always a sucker for anything that is cute, small and colorful. I believe I bought it at Sears or Mervyns. It matched my kitchen at very well. I lived alone at the time and only needed a small pot so this 4 cup machine was right up my alley. I have since married and have a huge pot at home.
Now my cute blue KitchenAid Ultra is used for my office. The 4 cup it makes is just enough for the two of us in the office that drink coffee. All in all the machine works reasonably well. It brews coffee pretty quickly and the coffee is strong and hot. The only really big problem is that the cone filters that are used for it sometimes fold over and that causes the coffee to back up in the top part.
This sometimes forces coffee and grounds to leak everywhere. I found that if I wet down the filters before adding the coffee grounds it seems to help but not always. Also, the automatic stop mechanism that is supposed to prevent coffee from coming out once you take out the pot broke within a couple of weeks of using it. It now will spill coffee everywhere if you take the pot out before it's stopped brewing. But I've had it for about 6 years now and it still brews coffee fine.
I still find the size very convenient for what we use it for, but in the future I would probably but a another machine or a senseo coffee marker with the pods. Coffee grounds are always messy but I'm addicted to coffee so there is no danger of me not using it any time soon.
