Cuisinart Grind and Brew
10 Cup coffeemaker - DGB-300BK

Cuisinart is the high-end home appliance king. With their laundry list of appliances from toasters, blenders and coffee makers you can be sure that whatever your need Cuisinart has it available – especially coffee makers.

Being known for its high cost equipment this does not change with this product offering as it retails for over $150.00 – that is a tall order for anyone. Is it worth the high price tag?

Cuisinart DGB-300BK Pros

The Automatic Grind and Brew is meant for the coffee connoisseur. The best coffee comes from freshly ground beans. Using freshly ground beans makes for, by far, the very best smelling and tasting coffee.

If you have the time to wait for the grinding and the brewing then you may want to consider this product unless the price tag scares you off.

There really is nothing more satisfying or enjoyable than waking up to coffee that has been freshly brewed.

The automatic grind and brew grinds whole beans as needed based on the amount of coffee you want to brew making the freshest coffee possible. Intelligence has come to a coffee maker.

It knows how much water should be used in order to extract all of the flavor out of the coffee with none of the bitterness.

This unit also features an auto shut off that is adjustable, self-clean function, warming thermostat among others.

Some other features of the Automatic Grind and Brew are:

  • 10-cup automatic coffee maker with Coffee Bar Flavor System used by commercial brewers

  • Large programmable LCD clock allows for preset coffee brewing

  • Grinds whole beans and automatically puts ground coffee into filter to brew

  • Adjustable keep-warm temperature control with display

  • Includes permanent filter and measuring scoop

  • 3-year limited warranty

Using this coffee maker takes some getting used to if you are not one who has ever used whole beans.

Keeping in mind to adjust the beans you use with how strong you like your coffee goes a long way to make a great cup of coffee.

A lot of the process is trial and error to get the right ratio of beans to water.

Cuisinart DGB-300BK Cons

Being all plastic the machine is easily destroyed. Parts have occasionally broken off just from normal use due to flimsy hinge construction.

There is also some time needed to maintain the unit. Unlike other products similar to this one the Automatic Grind and Brew takes minutes to disassemble in order to clean it. This increases the breakage rate.

The buttons on the unit have a tendency to see the writing rubbed off through washings so you might as well memorize them.

We expect coffee makers to last a reasonably long time. It is not rocket science. You put in water. You put in the coffee.

You turn it on and wait. This unit hates lasting more than six months if you are at all lucky. At the ten month mark the grinder has a difficulty of sending the coffee to the basket for brewing despite routinely cleaning it.

Is the unit worth $150.00? The short answer is no. You will be better off buying a somewhat cheaper coffee maker and a small grinder. Your cost will be much cheaper and you will get the same affect.
