I've had this coffee maker for about a year. I got it because of its grinding capability, making coffee from freshly ground beans for the ultimate flavor. I love the smell of the freshly brewed coffee in the morning.

It's been working very well, it is easy to use and seems like a sturdy, quality appliance. It has nice features, beeps if you forget to put certain part back in properly after washing or if you don't close the lid completely. You can use the grind feature or you can just brew coffee without grinding first. The thing that could be built better is part where you put water; it is designed a little too narrow so if you ever try to clean it, you'll need narrow brush or something since it is not removable like all the other parts.

It is supposed to have automatic cleaning and let you know when to clean it, so far it hasn't notified me yet and I've made coffee every single day for a year with it. Also, grinding is extremely loud so it is not recommended for early morning!

Other than being loud when grinding, I would say it is a solid performer and long lasting appliance that also looks nice on the counter. (Mine is in black)

I bought it for $39.99 when it was on sale at Linens and Things. Compared to other coffee makers I feel this was a decent price for a quality (and brand name) coffee maker that also grinds. You'd probably pay that or more if you had bought cheaper coffee maker of a less known brand and then grinder separately. I would not have bought it though if it was $100 like at some other locations, but that could be because I try to be realistic and spending that much on a coffee maker seems a bit much to me.

However, I feel that so far, it has been very reliable and it is very simple to use and paying a little more for a quality product always pays off in the long run.

I would recommend this product if it was reasonable price and rate it 7 out of 10. (It would have been higher if it was quiet when grinding)

good tasting coffee

We loved this coffeemaker. It made great tasting coffee and stayed hot untill we finished the whole pot. Only drawback is the grinder had to be cleaned after each pot. It was hard for our older family to figure out. My father-in-law really struggled with this machine.

Also, ours just croaked after 4 years :( We cleaned it regularly but had some guests while we were out of town who were hard on it so we think that may have contributed to its demise!

I was very sad to see this coffee maker discontinued, I've had it for 4 years and it still looks and works like new! One of the best features of this pot is its versatility, it has a grind off function which you can select prior to beginning your daily brew if you are choosing pre-ground coffee rather then whole beans.

I also found the self timer easy to use and a pleasure to have, nothing has been better then being on time to work cause my coffee was ready when I was. unfortunately I found that the self cleaning function was hard to use. I also would have liked to see the pot come with a reusable filter rather then having to buy replacement paper filters.

difficult to clean

Nothing beats a cup of fresh-brewed coffee in the morning. But getting out the grinder every day was a drag, so when I saw the Cuisinart Grind and Brew advertised for a reasonable price online, I jumped at it. Having seen other brands in stores for considerably more, I was skeptical � after all, you do get what you pay for � but it seemed worth the risk. The first time I used it, I was sold.

It�s the easiest thing in the world to measure in the beans and water. Then all you have to do is activate the start button. You don�t even have to wait for the pot to fill up. It has a convenient Brew Pause so you can pour out a cup before it�s finished. And it�s fully programmable. You can have your coffee ready and waiting when you get up in the morning.

The only problem, and its not an inconsiderable one, is cleaning the machine. The parts come out easily and rinse quickly under the tap, but you must make sure they are COMPLETELY dry before putting them back in again or you can ruin the machine. We went through two coffeemakers before we finally got the hang of it. The good news is that customer service representatives were efficient and helpful, and the warranty was honored without so much as a quibble.

For the price it can't be beat

My wife and I received this coffeemaker as a wedding present over 2 years ago. I have had many Cuisinart appliances over the years, and while they are not the top of the line products, they are probably the best value for median priced appliances.

The main feature that we both liked was that you could program it to make coffee at any given time. This was great because I often found myself without time to make it myself in the morning rush, so being able to set it for about the time I woke up was great. There's really nothing better than the smell of fresh ground, freshly brewed coffee in the morning.

Another great aspect that I enjoyed was the ability to set it on a "warmer" setting that would either stop as soon as it was done brewing, or keep the coffee hot for up to 2 hours. This is nice during the weekends when you might want one cup, then wait 30 minutes before another. I don't have to microwave it anymore, it's still hot!

Honestly, there are only 2 drawbacks. The first is the noise it creates. Living in a smaller apartment, could can hear and feel the rumble it makes when it is grinding the coffee. And since there's no way to turn off the grinding aspect, even pre-grinding is not an option.

The second drawback is how hard it is to clean. It comes apart easily and goes back together just as easy. The problem is that there are too many small areas that you have to use a higher pressure water (like a sink sprayer, which I don't have!) to clean it out.

Overall, for the price (even though we got ours free) it can't be beat if you're willing to work with it and don't sleep too close.
