Cuisinart Brew Central Thermal Coffeemaker DCC-1400 Series

I really like my Cuisinart Brew Central Thermal Coffeemaker. The thermal carafe really keeps the coffee hot without distilling it, making a great fresh tasting cup of coffee - keeping the just brewed taste for hours. The one to four cup feature enables you to brew a small quantify of coffee, with the same quality as a full carafe, by virtue of the fact it double heats the water.

This is an important feature for people who use the same coffee maker for themselves and for when they entertain. One of the draw backs is the fact that the guide displaying the quantity of water you wish to pour into the reservoir, can not be conveniently viewed from the outside. This creates the need to use a measuring cup to pour the water into a measuring cup before pouring it into the coffee maker.

This drawback does not apply if you are making a full pot of coffee, because the guide is that visible when looking into the reservoir. If you are making a small pot you cannot see the lower guides. This is the most serious drawback.

The second drawback is the design of the pour spout, which can cause spillage when pouring the last several cups from the carafe. In my experience, you almost have to turn the carafe upside down. These are the only two problems I have had with my Cuisinart Brew Central Thermal Coffeemaker. I am happy with it overall and give it a rating of four. It has many other features to recommend it.
