Capresso 302.01 Mini
This is a great little machine for the price. It does not compare to the professional machines I’ve used in the past, but it does do a good job. This machine makes great froth, but would not be recommended for a crowd, but if you are making one to two espressos at a time, it will be fine. I paid around $60 for this machine and while that is a good price, do not expect it to last forever.
When mine was around two years old, it started giving the espresso more a burned, bitter taste. If you are looking for a machine that will last forever, this isn’t the one for you, but it will make a great starter espresso machine for you. This espresso maker has great durability and seems to be made from quality items. It is also easy to keep clean as the carafe is dishwasher safe.
A DVD also comes with this espresso maker to help with any questions, but it is really easy to use. You can make approximately four shots of espresso at a time. Also, you do not need to tamp the espresso when putting it in. When steaming milk, you will only get about 60 seconds of steam. On that note, if you are making two large lattes, you will probably run out of steam before you are done, but you will have enough to steam two rounds of 16 ounce milk.
I also like the fact that this machine is fairly compact and uses less counter space. The housing on this machine is mostly made of plastic, so if that bothers you, you may not want to purchase this item, but I had no problem with that. I think this is a good little machine for those who are wanting a “starter machine”.
