Black & Decker Versa Brew DLX850 12 Cup Coffeemaker

When our fancy coffeemaker stopped working after only 4 months of use, we decided to buy something more economical and simpler. The Black and Decker VersaBrew seemed to fit the ticket. We bought it at Wal-Mart for a reasonable price about 2 or 3 years ago. We use it every day.

This coffee maker still works very well and is very reliable. It is programmable and makes 12 cups total. The parts and pieces of the coffee maker are easy to take apart and clean. I like the sneak a cup feature because often I am ready for my first cup of coffee in the morning before the rest has finished brewing. I like the simple look of this coffee maker and while the white has stained quite a bit from the daily brewing, overall the Black and Decker is still very nice looking.

While I feel this coffee maker is a good quality match to the amount we paid for it, there are still a few things that bug me. In my opinion the coffee always brews a little weak. We buy dark, bold type coffees and they never seem as strong and rich as they should.

Also, the coffee pot itself will not pour correctly if you don’t do it just right. If you are looking for a reliable and economically viable coffee maker, this is the one for you, but if you like rich coffee with a lot of flavor, look for something else. We bought this coffee maker because we didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a fancy one that didn’t work for very long but I miss the incredible flavor of the coffee that the more expensive coffee maker brewed.

Our next coffee maker will have a few more bells and whistles but I bet it will be a long time before our Black and Decker stops working!

My number one desire in a new coffee maker was to find one with an auto shut off- I am notorious for leaving appliances on in the morning. There have been a lot of stories in the news lately about fires in the home that were caused by coffeepots being left on, etc. Not to mention the horrible smell.

At any rate, there are three serious coffee drinkers in my home so I wanted to get one that was a reasonable size, had a timer (but no clock- they always seem to get off time, and it isn’t necessary given there is a clock on the stove), made a reasonably good cup of coffee, and was a decent price.

And getting one that didn’t look like a garage sale relic on my kitchen counter would be a bonus, I didn’t want to have to hide it in a cabinet when company came over.

This makes a good cup of coffee, and the price was right, but I guess I paid for that in that the switch that is supposed to change the brewing strength didn’t seem to change anything- I don’t know if it is just me, or the grounds I was using, but that seemed to be a useless feature given that it doesn’t work. The timer is fine though.

Not a stellar appliance, but good enough. I guess I’ll save up for something that makes a GREAT cup of coffee in the morning though.

I bought my coffee maker at Wal-Mart about 2 years ago, it was reasonably priced so I decided to give it a chance. It has options to have the coffee strong, medium or light and I tend to like my coffee strong.

There is a timer set on it along with a clock, I like how I can set it to make coffee for me in the morning and I do not have to worry about getting up earlier to do this. I tend to make a pot of just water after every use to keep it clean and to this day I have not had any issues with it.

This machine is very reliable and easy to use. I have tried friends coffee pots, the names I am unsure of and find that the coffee has an odd taste to it and the machine itself is extremely loud. I love my coffee pot as it really is not loud and does not wake me up in the mornings when it starts brewing.

I would not use a different coffee maker, this has far been the best machine I have ever owned. If I ever need a new one I really do hope I could buy another Black and Decker Versa Brew Plus. Price does not guarantee a good machine, sometimes the cheaper ones really do make a better pot of coffee.

I have learned this through experience and stand firm on my view of this coffee maker and others I have tried in the past.

We love this coffee maker in our household! The price was fair and it is a great coffee maker with some pretty neat features without a big price tag.

I really like that you can use the "sneak a cup" feature to get a cup of coffee while it is still brewing without making any mess.

My spouse has to get up in the middle of the night for work and has a very short amount of time to get ready. He absolutely loves the timer feature. You set the timer and the coffee brews on its own. It is there waiting for you when you are ready to drink it. That is a big time saver and who doesn't need more time while you are trying to run out the door?

I also like the fact that the coffee maker will automatically shut off after two hours. No more leaving home and wondering if you shut the coffee maker off because it will do it for you!

I am a bit clutzy and really like the swing out filter feature. This seems to eliminate me making a mess putting the coffee grounds in and taking the wet coffee grounds out.

I think this is a great coffee maker! I would definitely purchase another one.
