Bialetti Six-Shot Stovetop Mocha Pot Espresso Maker
I have a Bialetti Mocha Pot, and I generally like it a lot. It makes very strong coffee that is really espresso, but requires only a flame and has no moving parts. It can use less coffee than a traditional machine, and it is made entirely of metal so it cannot break easily.
I purchased mine at a Target store for around thirty dollars, but it is easy to find them for lower prices at larger stores such as Walmart or Costco. Larger sizes of pot are available, as are smaller. The pot is silver, with a black handle and a stylized image of a small Italian man wearing a chef's hat printed on the side.
The pot is hexagonal, and the rounded corners at the points are pleasant to the touch. The pot can get very hot after coffee is made, and may be dangerous to handle if proper precautions are not taken. When the espresso is done a large plume of coffee colored smoke pours out of the top, and if you lift the hinge you can see the espresso sputtering out of the top of the steaming device.
Pros
- I can use this device very quickly before I go to work to make very strong coffee
- The Bialetti Mocha pot is extremely durable, and lasts practically forever
Cons
- Bialetti Mocha pot can become very hot and burn whoever is handling it, takes a long time to cool off
- Pot can emit an extremely high pitched screaming noise if water is allowed to boil for too long, akin to being inside of a police siren. This can damage hearing.
